How AS1-304 works?

A-Sonne is a next-generation portable heliostat designed to bring sunlight exactly where you need it—even in spaces where natural light rarely reaches. This innovative device works by automatically tracking the sun’s position and adjusting its mirror in real time. Using advanced sensors and precision motor control, A-Sonne calculates the sun’s movement throughout the day and redirects sunlight to your chosen spot—whether it’s a reading nook, work desk, or interior wall. Setup is simple: place it near a window or balcony, power it on, and select your target area. From there, A-Sonne does the work for you, ensuring a steady stream of natural light enters your space effortlessly and sustainably all while reducing your reliance on artificial lighting.

How to Use A-Sonne – Step-by-Step Guide

1. Placement
  • Place A-Sonne near a window or balcony where it has direct access to sunlight.
  • Ensure the device has a clear line of sight to the sky for accurate sun tracking.
2. Power On
  • Plug the device into a power source.
  • A-Sonne has no batteries – it is a plug-and-play system consuming less than 1W.
3. Home Position
  • When powered on, the device goes to its home (sleeping) position automatically.
  • The mirror will lift up slightly once powered and will start looking for the sun.
4. Find the Sun
  • A-Sonne will rotate to detect the brightest point in the sky.
  • If it’s cloudy, it will still try to find the maximum available light.
5. Set Your Target
  • Use the joystick to manually move the mirror:
  • Up / Down / Left / Right until the sunlight reflects on your desired spot.
  • Make sure both sunlight source and your target area are within the 0° to 180° range for proper tracking.
6. Lock the Target
  • Press the joystick button (you’ll hear a beep) to save your target position.
  • This ensures A-Sonne will redirect light to the same point during every recalibration.
7. Restart for Confirmation
  • Turn the device off and on again to check if it redirects to your saved target.
  • If correct, your target is successfully locked.

Pro Tip: Do not move the mirror by hand. Always use the joystick to prevent motor damage.

Device Movement Limitation

(Both “Sun” and “Target” Must be in a 180° Range)
Refer to the top-view graphic above for a clear visualization of the angle limits and acceptable operation zone.

To deliver safe, reliable, and energy-efficient daylighting, A-Sonne operates within defined movement boundaries:

  • Horizontal Tracking: The device rotates from 0° to 180°, allowing the mirror to follow the sun across a half-circle field.
  • Vertical Tilt: The mirror only tilts between 0° and 90°, pointing from the horizontal up toward vertical positions.

Important: Both the sun and your target must be within these angles for A-Sonne to function correctly and provide seamless illumination.

Why These Limits Matter ?

  • Motor & Electronics Safety: Prevents overstressing internal components.
  • User Safety: Maintains precise and controllable sunlight reflection.
  • Consistent Daylighting: Ensures accurate, reliable sunlight delivery without frequent recalibration.

Positioning for Better Results

For optimum performance, make sure that both your sunlight source (the sun) and your chosen target (like a room or workspace) are within the device’s 180° horizontal and 90° vertical reach.

  • Quick Setup Guide: Use the visual above to position A-Sonne so your target and incoming sunlight fall within the half-circle illustrated.
  • Smart Tip: Check this before installation for uninterrupted lighting throughout the day.

What Happens If Sun or Target Are Out of Range ?

If the sun or your target is outside the acceptable angles, the device will not be able to correctly direct sunlight—and performance could be noticeably reduced.
For best results, always keep both within the recommended zone.
