2. Where should I install A-Sonne for best results — balcony, window, or roof?
The ideal placement for A-Sonne is in a location that has direct access to sunlight for most of the day, such as a balcony, near a window, or an open terrace. Balconies and windows are the most common and convenient spots because they provide easy access and usually allow enough sunlight for tracking. Roof installations are possible with additional mounting options, which we can provide upon request. Avoid placing the device behind obstructions like walls or shades that block sunlight.
Will it work if my room faces north, south, east, or west?
Yes, A-Sonne can work in rooms facing any direction as long as the device itself has a clear line of sight to the sun. For example, if your room faces north and gets limited sunlight, you can place A-Sonne on a balcony or an adjacent area that receives sunlight and redirect the reflected light into the room. The device needs exposure to sunlight for at least a few hours a day to perform optimally.

The standard version of A-Sonne is designed for flat surfaces such as windowsills, balconies, or tables. Is the device eco-friendly and recyclable?

How does A-Sonne automatically track the sun?

What is the total power consumption, and does it need continuous charging? Does it have an internal battery, or does it work only when plugged in?
A-Sonne consumes less than 1W of power, making it extremely energy-efficient. It does not have an internal battery, so it operates only when connected to a power source via USB-C. No charging is required because it’s a plug-and-play system, similar to a small electronic device.
Can I run it using a power bank or solar panel?
Yes, A-Sonne can run on any 5V DC power source, including power banks and portable solar panels, as long as they provide a stable output. This makes it convenient for off-grid setups or eco-conscious users.
What’s the maximum distance the sunlight can be reflected accurately?
A-Sonne can redirect sunlight into rooms up to 5–6 meters deep with full brightness. Under ideal conditions, the reflected beam can travel up to 20 meters while still being effective.
Can I manually adjust the mirror angle, and will that affect automatic tracking? How does the joystick work to aim or lock the target?

Once satisfied, press the joystick button to lock and save the target position. Automatic tracking will then use this saved position for realignment during the day.
Does it recalibrate automatically if clouds block the sun? How often does the device realign itself during the day?
Yes, A-Sonne pauses tracking during low light or cloudy conditions and automatically resumes when sunlight returns. It recalibrates its position every 15 minutes to maintain accurate reflection throughout the day.
If there’s a power cut, will it lose the saved target settings? Does it remember the last target after turning off?
No, it won’t lose the settings. A-Sonne saves the last target position in its memory, so even after a power cut or restart, it will redirect sunlight to the same saved spot.
Can I use multiple A-Sonne units in the same area without interference?
Yes, multiple units can be used in the same space. Each device operates independently and will not interfere with others, as they track sunlight individually.
Are the mirror and motor mechanisms durable?
Yes, A-Sonne is built with high-quality components, including precision motors and durable reflective glass. It is designed for long-term outdoor or semi-outdoor use when installed in a sheltered location.
Does it update its position in real time or at intervals? How quickly does it react to sun movement?
A-Sonne does not move continuously; it updates its position every 15 minutes for optimal performance without unnecessary motor strain. This interval-based adjustment ensures energy efficiency and long motor life.
What’s the minimum sunlight needed to activate the device?
The device needs direct sunlight or strong daylight to function effectively. In very cloudy or overcast conditions, it will enter a standby mode until sufficient sunlight is available.
How does energy-saving mode work?
Energy-saving mode activates automatically when sunlight is too weak for reflection. In this mode, the device pauses motor movement to avoid unnecessary power consumption and resumes tracking when sunlight returns.
Does the device support smart home integration or a mobile app?
Currently, A-Sonne does not have smart home or app integration, as it is designed for standalone, plug-and-play operation. However, future versions may include such features based on customer feedback.
What’s the warranty period, and what parts are covered?
A-Sonne comes with a 2-year limited warranty, which covers motors, sensors, and electronic components under normal usage. Physical damage, water exposure, or unauthorized modifications are not covered.

How do I set and lock the target position?
Use the joystick to move the mirror up, down, left, or right until the reflection hits your desired spot. Press the joystick button to lock the position—a beep confirms it’s saved.
What happens during cloudy weather, and do I need to recalibrate if I move it?
The device pauses tracking during low sunlight and resumes automatically when conditions improve. If you relocate A-Sonne, you must set and lock a new target position.
How do I confirm the target is saved?
Turn the device off and on. If the mirror redirects to the same spot, your target is correctly saved.
How often should I clean it, and how?
Clean the mirror weekly with a soft microfiber cloth. For fog or dirt, use mild glass cleaner and wipe gently. No lubrication or special maintenance is needed.
Can I replace the mirror or get spare parts?
Yes, replacement mirrors and components are available through customer support. Contact us if you need parts or servicing.
What if the device doesn’t work out of the box or gets damaged in shipping?

Weather, Safety & Additional Uses
Can A-Sonne work on cloudy or rainy days, and can I use it during monsoon?
A-Sonne requires direct sunlight for best performance. On cloudy days, it may pause tracking until sunlight returns. It should not be exposed to rain—place it in a covered balcony or sheltered spot during monsoon.
Is the device water-resistant, and what if it gets wet?
The device is not waterproof. If it gets wet, unplug immediately and dry thoroughly before use. Continuous water exposure can damage motors and electronics.
Will it overheat in harsh sunlight or attract birds/insects?
No, it is built to handle temperatures up to 50°C without overheating. Occasionally, the mirror may reflect light that attracts insects, but this is rare and temporary.
Is the reflected sunlight safe for people, pets, and interiors?
Yes, indirect sunlight is safe. However:
- Do not stare into the reflection, as it can harm eyes.
- Avoid pointing light at flammable items.
- Prolonged exposure may cause minor fading to wall paint over many years—similar to regular sunlight.
Are there any precautions during setup, and is the mirror fragile?
