Environmental Responsibility

At A-Sonne, we care about the environment just as much as you do! That’s why we’ve made sure that our PLA based products can be recycled responsibly. By doing so, you help reduce E-waste, conserve natural resources, and contribute to a more sustainable planet.

Let’s make sure your products get a second life, and not end up in a landfill.

What is PLA?

PLA, or Polylactic Acid, is a biodegradable polymer derived from renewable resources such as corn starch or sugarcane. Commonly used in 3D printing, it’s known for its environmental benefits compared to traditional plastics.

If You Don’t Recycle?

While PLA is biodegradable under industrial composting conditions, it’s essential to dispose of it properly to minimize environmental impact. Recycling or composting helps ensure that the product doesn’t contribute to landfill waste and can even be repurposed into new materials.

Electronic waste can release harmful chemicals into the environment, polluting the air, soil, and water. By recycling, you’re helping to prevent this and supporting a cleaner, healthier planet. Every product recycled is a step toward reducing our carbon footprint!

How to Recycle your Product

Electronic Components: Your product contains electronic parts (like the motor and sensors) that should not go into regular trash bins. Many local recycling centers accept e-waste, so check with your local authorities or find an e-waste recycling facility nearby.

Product body & Mirror: The heliostat’s PLA body and glass mirror are fully recyclable! Take them to a local recycling facility or a scrap yard that accepts Plastic and glass. Make sure to carefully detach these parts to prevent breakage.

Follow these steps to responsibly recycle or dispose of your PLA-based product:

  1. Check Local Recycling Options: PLA is not always accepted in standard curbside recycling programs. Research local facilities that handle PLA recycling.
  2. Industrial Composting: If your area has access to industrial composting facilities, PLA can be broken down efficiently under high heat and specific conditions.
  3. Reuse or Repurpose: Get creative! PLA products can often be repurposed for DIY projects or reused in innovative ways.
  4. Avoid Burning: Do not burn PLA, as it can release harmful fumes.

Environmental Benefits of PLA

  • Made from renewable resources, reducing dependency on fossil fuels.
  • Lower carbon footprint during production compared to traditional plastics.
  • Breaks down faster under proper composting conditions, minimizing long-term waste.
